2011 Itami Award

The Itami International Contemporary Jewellery Exhibition marks its 7th time in 2011 under the theme of ‘Jewellery’. The existence of jewellery is strongly connected to human body and soul. Jewellery continues to be loved, and to give us joy while showing the subtle differences of the various cultures and climates. We look forward to discovering the works of artist with a touch of gentleness towards the people of today. This year there were over 400 entries including 87 from 19 foreign countries. 84 works were selected and 9 were awarded prizes, the Itami Award being 3rd. Collaboration: Pennie Elliott and Sarah Hudson.

Catalogue text

As we work side by side we calmly reflect on beauty in design. Our conversation is not loud but a quiet contemplation and subtle design in which each necklace tells a story of a repeated process of making, over time… Of hundreds of unique, irregular pieces that join together without interruption in a state of harmony, balance and quietude.
